VANGUARD® PLUS CPV is a liquid preparation of a high-titer, modified-live canine parvovirus (CPV) strain attenuated by low passage on an established canine cell line. The combination of high titer and low passage gives VANUGUARD PLUS CPV immunogenicity capable of overriding appreciable levels of maternal CPV antibodies in puppies 6 weeks of age or older.
Approved Uses
VANGUARD PLUS CPV is approved for:
Vaccination of healthy dogs for the prevention of canine parvoviral enteritis caused by canine parvovirus.
Key Features
Inherently greater immunogenicity of a low-passage CPV vaccine produced at high titer can stimulate active immunity in the presence of maternal antibodies. Serum neutralization titers as low as 1:4 can prevent active immunization by conventional vaccines. VANGUARD PLUS CPV has been shown to successfully immunize dogs with prevaccination serum neutralization (SN) titers, some as high as 1:64

Precautions
Store at 2°–7° C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperature and/or direct sunlight may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze. Use entire contents when first opened. Sterilized syringes and needles should be used. Burn containers and all unused contents.
As with many vaccines, anaphylaxis may occur after use. Initial antidote of epinephrine is recommended and should be followed with appropriate supportive therapy. These products have been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals. A protective immune response may not develop if animals are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished or parasitized, are stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions, are otherwise immunocompromised, or if the vaccine is not administered according to label directions.
For use in dogs only.
Vaccination of pregnant bitches should be avoided.
