PREDEF 2X is available in 10- and 100-mL vials.
Dosage/Administration
The usual intramuscular dose is 5 to 20 mg repeated as necessary. The usual intrasynovial dose in joint inflammation, tendinitis or bursitis is 5 to 20 mg or more, depending on the size of the cavity to be injected.
In animals with overwhelming severe infections for which specific antibacterial therapy is available (e.g., critical pneumonia, peritonitis, endometritis), PREDEF 2X therapy may be used as supportive therapy. PREDEF 2X therapy in the presence of infection should be administered in the shortest possible time compatible with maintenance of an adequate response, and antibacterial therapy should be continued for at least 3 days after the hormone has been withdrawn.
Precaution
As with all parenteral products, aseptic technique should be used to reduce the possibility of postinjection bacterial infections.
Animals intended for human consumption should not be slaughtered within 7 days of last treatment.
