Long-Lasting Itch Relief
DEPO-MEDROL® (methylprednisolone acetate) has the power to quickly relieve inflammation and seasonal itching, with minimal side effects. One injection provides a slow, consistent release of effective anti-inflammatory medication providing sustained relief. The acetate formulation maintains gradually declining drug levels to allay symptoms for weeks. DEPO-MEDROL improves anti-inflammatory action by 25% compared with prednisolone, with even less tendency to induce sodium and water retention. DEPO-MEDROL offers more anti-inflammatory action than any other medication in its class and with an unsurpassed side-effect profile.
Indications
Allergic Conditions: Relieves itching and inflammation of allergic dermatitis, acute moist dermatitis, dry eczema, urticaria, bronchial sensitivities, and otitis externa in dogs.
Musculoskeletal Conditions: Useful in treating traumatic arthritis,
osteoarthritis and generalized arthritic conditions in dogs.
Overwhelming Infections with Severe Toxicity: In dogs that have a strong possibility of dying from overwhelmingly severe infections that can be cured by antibiotic therapy (such as critical pneumonia or pyometritis), DEPO-MEDROL may be lifesaving. DEPO-MEDROL inhibits the inflammatory reaction, which may be lethal by itself. DEPO-MEDROL prevents vascular collapse and preserves the integrity of the blood vessels.
Other Conditions: Useful when it is desirable to reduce inflammation, vascularization, fibroblastic infiltration and scar tissue. Indicated for snakebite due to its antitoxemic, anti-inflammatory and antishock activity. Particularly effective in reducing swelling and preventing sloughing.
