Tablets

Description

  • Semi-synthetic penicillin with a broad spectrum of antibiotic activity for use in dogs.


  • Provides bactericidal activity against a wide range of common gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens.
Approved Uses

AMOXI-TABS® (amoxicillin) is approved for the treatment of susceptible organisms causing the following infections:
  • Respiratory infections (tonsillitis, tracheobronchitis) due to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp, E.coli and Proteus mirabilis.


  • Genitourinary tract infections (cystitis) due to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp, E.coli and Proteus mirabilis.


  • Gastrointestinal tract infections (bacterial gastroenteritis) due to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp, E.coli and Proteus mirabilis.


  • Bacterial dermatitis due to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp and Proteus mirabilis.


  • Soft-tissue infections (abscesses, lacerations, wounds) due to Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp, E.coli and Proteus mirabilis.

  • AMOXI-TABS are rapidly absorbed and diffused into most body tissue and fluids following oral administration.


  • AMOXI-TABS are stable in the presence of gastric acid and may be given without regard to meals.


  • AMOXI-TABS are color-coded to make correct dosing easier.


  • Film-coated AMOXI-TABS have no bitter taste, do not dissolve quickly, make “spit-outs” easier to administer, increasing compliance.
Packaging

Bottles of 50 mg, 100 mg, 150 mg, 200 mg or 400 mg tablets.

Dosage and Administration

  • Recommended dosage is 5 mg/lb of body weight twice a day.


  • Administer for 5 to 7 days, or for 48 hours after all symptoms have subsided.
Precautions

  • For use in dogs only.


  • Use is contraindicated in animals with a history of allergic reactions to penicillin.


  • If an allergic reaction occurs, administer epinephrine and/or steroids.


  • Minor irritation at injection site may occur.


  • If no improvement is seen within 5 days, diagnosis should be reconsidered.


  • Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on order of a licensed veterinarian.
