DOXIROBE™(doxycycline)

Save More Teeth With DOXIROBE™ Gel
DOXIROBE (doxycycline) Gel gives you another option in the treatment of periodontal disease. It's a
medication system that puts doxycycline at the site of infection and keeps it there. Now you can save
teeth instead of pulling them. Make DOXIROBE an important part of your canine dental care program.
Indications
DOXIROBE Gel is indicated for the treatment and control of periodontal disease in dogs.
Key Features
- Simple - A special syringe (included) with a bendable cannula lets you inject DOXIROBE Gel directly into infected pockets.
- Sure - The flowable polymer quickly solidifies with exposure to water and remains in the pocket for up to several weeks. Over this time, doxycycline is released at levels that greatly exceed the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) levels of potential
periodontal pathogens.
- Effective - Just one treatment reduces periodontal pocket depth, increases reattachment and reduces gingival inflammation.
- Rewarding - Your clients will be glad you used DOXIROBE to help save their pet's teeth. They'll notice improved gums.
- Safe - In a clinical study with many treatment sites per dog, all detectable serum concentrations of doxycycline were well below levels associated with
systemic activity or toxicity.
- Convenient - DOXIROBE Gel biodegrades over time, so there's no need to remove it.
- Compatible - DOXIROBE can be used as part of a complete oral health program.
Packaging
Each unit of DOXIROBE Gel contains Syringe A (polymer delivery system) and Syringe B (doxycycline).
When the contents are mixed, there will be approximately 0.5 mL of doxycycline solution.
DOXIROBE is available in a 3-unit carton (containing one additional blunt cannula).
Store in a refrigerator at 36° to 46° F (2° to 8° C).
Dosage/Administration
Teeth should be cleaned and scaled prior to application.
Apply the product with the animal under sedation or anesthesia.
Mix the product by joining Syringes A and B, and using the plungers to exchange the material 100 times between the syringes. Place all of the mixture into Syringe A.
Bend the cannula to the desired angle. Gently place the cannula 1 to 2 mm below the gingival margin
of an affected tooth. Infuse a small amount of the mixture into the pocket, filling approximately to the gingival margin. Lavage a few drops of water over the site to facilitate solidification. Press any exposed material back into the pocket with a spatula or curette.
See the package insert for complete directions.
Precautions
Clients should be advised to suspend brushing their dog's teeth for approximately two
weeks following treatment.
Caution: DOXIROBE is not for use in dogs under one year of age, because the use of tetracycline during tooth development has been associated with permanent discoloring of teeth. Do not use in pregnant bitches, as the use of the product in breeding dogs has not been evaluated.
Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
